AUBER Conferences in 2005

Spring Conference

The NABE/AUBER 21st annual policy conference will be held Monday and Tuesday, March 21 and 22, at the Marriott at Metro Center in Washington, D.C. Speakers will include high-ranking government officials and other experts on selected economic policy issues. Additional information is available at www.nabe.com, or 202-463-6223.

Fall Conference

AUBER's 59th annual fall meeting will be held in Missoula, Montana, October 8-11, 2005. Missoula is served by nonstop flights from four airlines. Alaska/Horizon flies from Seattle, Delta from Salt Lake City, Northwest from Minneapolis, and United from Denver. Last-minute tickets can be pricey, but advance purchase tickets are usually reasonable. It is never too early to start visiting your favorite web site and looking for specials!

The conference will run from Sunday morning until noon Tuesday. Conference program organizers Jerry Conover, Indiana University, and Stephen Smith, University of Memphis, have scheduled full days of meetings on Sunday and Monday, with adjournment by noon on Tuesday. The board of directors will meet on Saturday afternoon. This schedule will allow most people to arrive in Missoula on Saturday and make it back home (even to the eastern time zone) by late Tuesday evening.

If you are interested in organizing a session or presenting, contact Jerry at conover@indiana.edu or Stephen at scsmith@memphis.edu.

Start making your plans now! The Northern Rockies are spectacular in early fall, and Missoula is roughly equidistant from Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks (but they are too far for a day trip). We will, however, visit the National Bison Range as our annual AUBER field trip. Watch for additional conference details in upcoming issues of the newsletter and on the AUBER web site, www.auber.org.
