Conference Program
Conference to be an Energizing Experience
This fall's conference program is shaping
up to be an energizing professional development experience
for AUBER members. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman has been
invited to address the conference on the crucial influence
of energy on today's economy, and additional presentations
are planned on energy as a cost of doing business, forecasting
energy prices, and related issues.
Our friends at NABE will present the
latest national economic outlook, just in time for your preparations
for delivering similar talks in your own area. In addition,
program sessions are scheduled on a wide range of interesting
topics, including:
- Environmental economics
- Effective and efficient ways to provide data via the web
- Creative packaging of research centers' products
- Geographic information systems for research centers
- Roles of AUBER units in economic development
- Interesting approaches to forecasting
- New data and tools from the Census Bureau
- Economic impact analysis-tools and examples
- Local and regional economic indicators and indexes
- New developments from BEA, BLS, and the FRB
- Creatively marketing AUBER units' activities
- Survey research methods and tools
- ACCRA-a partner research organization
- Effective strategies for small research centers
There will also be a poster session for those who would like
to share and get feedback on their recent work. Details about
taking part in the poster session will be included in the
conference packets that will be mailed soon.
Despite this full conference program, we've left plenty of
time for networking with colleagues, something that AUBER
members always say they appreciate about the conferences.
And there will be a great field trip to the National Bison
Range and the Flathead Indian Reservation, as well as the
ever-popular AUBER hospitality suite.
So watch for the registration packet coming soon to a mailbox
near you and make your plans to join the best AUBER conference
yet!
