Under the Tucson Sun
Much effort goes into planning sessions
for an AUBER conference. Determining topics of interest,
inviting speakers, recruiting session chairs, and arranging
the program take time, patience, and teamwork. I’m
sure you all would agree that a conference program means
more than a piece of paper that lists sessions, times, and
rooms. It represents conference planners’ and association
members’ efforts to provide the best conference possible.
I want to thank everyone who provided
suggestions/contacts, accepted an invitation to present or
chair a session, and
volunteered “to help in anyway they could” (quoting
Lorena Akioka, Keith Schwer, and Stephen Smith). Your efforts
have helped create a program that offers sessions useful
to research communicators, including working with federal
data (“Effective Use of the BLS Web Site”), seeking
funding (“GrantLink”), interviewing (“WinCati
Mixed Mode Interviewing”), and publishing (“Publish
or Perish”). Although we are not prognosticators, consider
attending the “Fed’s Approach to Regional Economic
Outlooks” session; it should be awesome. Unfortunately,
we were unable to secure an Adobe presentation; however,
a session on design/production tips is in the planning stage.
If you are interested in presenting
at the fall conference (there should still be time to add
a session or two) or chairing
a session, please contact Janet Speyrer
or Rennae Daneshvary.
See
you in Tucson.
