Local Employment Dynamics Program to Expand Quarterly Workforce Indicators

The Employment and Training Administration has provided funding to the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) program to expand the availability of its Quarterly Workforce Indicators to additional states beyond the 30 currently participating in the program.

These indicators provide new, current, local information on earnings and employment dynamics that are useful for employers, job-seekers, workforce boards, economic developers—indeed, all local decision makers. More information is available at http://lehd.dsd.census.gov. Check out the Quarterly Workforce Indicators online, particularly the detailed NAICS industry reports.

In addition, the LED program has developed a block level mapping capability that permits technical and nontechnical staff in Labor Market Information and local Workforce Investment Board Offices to produce local market area maps and tabular reports showing current employer and worker interdependencies and needs. Strategic workgroups are being developed with 10 states that can be used to generate information of most use to employers, job seekers, workforce boards, and economic developers. The current test site, which uses Minnesota data, can be viewed at http://lehd.excensusonline.com.

If you are interested in finding out more about this local mapping capability, please e-mail Julia Lane.
