The Atkins Friendly Seminar
The NABE “Economic Statistics
. . . From Theory to Practice” seminar offered
AUBERites the opportunity to get up to speed, refresh,
or replenish some of the “little grey matter.”
The conference, organized around the theme of helping
young analysts learn about available and useful data,
proved valuable. The program highlighted data issues
around major federal data providers such as Census,

NASS
to Issue Improved 2002 Census of Agriculture Data
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service
(NASS) announced that 2002 Census of Agriculture data
tables were released on June 3. All farms in the United
States are represented. Representation for all U.S.
farms is an improvement over earlier census publications
that included data only for farms on the census mail
list. It has long been recognized that many small farm
operations have been overlooked in the census process.

the Tucson Sun
Much effort goes into planning
sessions for an AUBER conference. Determining topics
of interest, inviting speakers, recruiting session chairs,
and arranging the program take time, patience, and teamwork.
I’m sure you all would agree that a conference
program means more than a piece of paper that lists
sessions, times, and rooms. It represents conference
planners’ and association members’ efforts

Employment Dynamics Program to Expand Quarterly Workforce
Indicators
The Employment and Training Administration has provided
funding to the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) program
to expand the availability of its Quarterly Workforce
Indicators to additional states beyond the 30 currently

Congratulations to AUBER member
Timothy Hogan! Director of the L. William Seidman Research
Institute at Arizona State University, Tim retired at
the end of June after 34 years of service to the university.
Through the years, Tim has been
a tireless supporter and promoter of AUBER. In addition
to serving as president in 1997 and chairing the Committee
on Relationships with Other Organizations, he has also
been a frequent presenter and session organizer at the
AUBER conferences.
